A room is available starting January 1st, 2025 in an all-male 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 3rd floor apartment in Medford on the Medford/Somerville line, about a 2-3 minute walk from the Ball Square green line extension station. The location is close to Neighborhood Produce, Ball Square Café, Kelly’s Diner, and Lyndell’s Bakery, and is down the street from Magoun Square. The room has a freestanding closet with mirrors, two windows on one wall, and a ceiling fan. The unit’s main area has skylights and a lot of windows, so it’s pretty sunny. The monthly rent is $1,100, paid directly to the landlord, and each room has an individual lease instead of one big lease. The current lease goes until August 31st, 2025. The landlord is very responsible and communicative, and answers any questions and addresses concerns promptly. There is central heat and A/C with a Nest thermostat on the wall. Utilities are split evenly. One person has the WiFi in his name at $12/month per person, and another person has the gas and electric in his name, which have been between $45-70/month per person. Roommates reimburse each other through Splitwise, which we also use for common items such as paper towels, dish soap, etc. In the kitchen, there is a relatively new fridge/freezer, a gas stove with pop-up range vent, a split sink with garbage disposal, and a few other appliances that belong to the roommates and are shared. There is a very large amount of cabinet space for dry food, utensils, plates, cups, etc., and there has never been an issue with finding space in either the fridge or cabinets. There is coin-on laundry in the basement and trash barrels beside the house. Trash is collected on Friday mornings. The apartment is on the top (3rd) floor, but there is one flight of stairs up to a landing with the 2nd and 3rd floor unit doors, and another small staircase inside our unit. There is no driveway, but plenty of street parking is available with a $10/year Medford permit. The current roommates are young professionals all in their 20s and are very quiet. Everyone is friendly, but also generally keeps to themselves. Another person in the same age range and disposition would probably be a good fit. The room can come with the desk and swivel chair if desired. Move-in costs are first, last, and security deposit. Contact me if you’re interested!
